How to clean an inner tent: If you have space, pitch the inner making sure it is secure. Then clean the affected area with a sponge and leave to dry.

How to clean a tent flysheet: Spread the flysheet out flat on the ground and clean the affected area as above. Then clean the affected area with warm water and a natural soap or mild detergent. After cleaning the flysheet you will need to re-proof it. Suitable products can be purchased from most outdoor shops.

Mould: To treat mould on a tent it is best to use Milton's sterilizing fluid. Dilute product well and sponge down the affected area. This may not remove the mould, but it will stop it from spreading and smelling.

To prevent mould growth inside your tent, it is best to keep it as dry as possible. So after a long weekend away it is best practise to dry your tent as much as possible prior to folding it and putting it in it's bag.

To keep your tent in good condition :

  1. A footprint will keep the groundsheet clean, and is easier to clean than a tent
  2. Always dry you tent well before storing, cleaning off any dirt
  3. We do not recommend that you wash any tent in a washing machine as this risks damaging the machine and the tent.
